WHo we are
Our core activity since 2011 has been supporting marginalized groups, children, adults and families in need and social institutions.
We respond to crisis situations that require immediate assistance and also make ongoing donations throughout the year, but it is equally important to us to enrich the lives of those in social care with experiences that the institutional system cannot provide. Whether it’s a multi-course restaurant dinner at a women’s shelter, a day of summer-lake–style activities for homeless people, or greening areas beside shelters and creating small gardens.
In addition, Bike Maffia has been responsible for other projects, including establishing a gynecology clinic in Budapest for women in need. We were also among the fastest to respond when the Russian-Ukrainian war broke out: through community efforts we delivered 20 tonnes of aid to border villages within a few days.
Through our programs we approach homelessness and prejudice in many ways that often go beyond primary aid. Our actions aim to raise awareness and change attitudes: corporate team-buildings and school programs focus on sensitization, community-building, and promoting volunteering, while our food-rescue project highlights waste reduction and the importance of environmental awareness.
Bike Maffia’s communications are frequently cited as exemplary by professionals, which is particularly important to us, as it is one of the key elements of social sensitization.
